Dr. Gregory Potter has been an Assistant Professor in the Benerd School of Education at the University of the Pacific since 2002. He received his Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of California, Davis in 2000. Prior to teaching at Pacific, Dr. Potter was a faculty member in the Department of Science Education of California State University, Long Beach. Dr. Potter teaches Transforming Teaching and Learning Practicum (EDUC 141), Teaching Science (EDUC 151), Teaching Mathematics (EDUC 152), and Workshop Chemistry Seminar (CURR 180). In addition to this work, Dr. Potter has been organizing and training preschool teachers from the greater Stockton are about how to infuse "A sense of wonder" into their programs by allowing their students to explore the science in the world around them as well as how to incorporate a love of basic math concepts into their programs by allowing their students to explore the mathematics in the world around them.  Dr. Potter’s teaching and research has focused on preparing the next generation of preschool and elementary school teachers to be ready to teach science and mathematics effectively and with passion as well as improving undergraduate science instruction to more clearly reflect true scientific inquiry and thus make it more interesting to students as they participate in the courses.
